"I really enjoyed the structure of the
school. I think it is set up well so people can
go for as many or as few weeks as they want. I had
a good experience there. I liked being in Heredia.
I appreciated its authenticity compared to the
tourist traps I went to everywhere else. I enjoyed
my host family as well. My profesora was a lot of
fun, and the staff there was all great. I'm definitely
happy that I went to Costa Rica."

"This was such a memorable experience that
I recommend it to anyone, regardless of age. The activities were fun for everyone,
from families to teenagers to adults.
I stayed primarily in a small
town about an hour and half from the capital, where
I lived with an amazing family who made me a part
of their family the day I moved in. This was one
of the most helpful parts of the program as I was
able to practice my Spanish after school, in the
comfortable environment of my "own home".
The town and people made a perfect immersion environment,
being able to make new friends and adventure around
the town, all while practicing my Spanish. The school
was a great set up. Class was always surrounded
by the lush Costa Rica fauna. Class was a great
place to build on my Spanish language foundation.
The comfort level and small number of students in
each class made it really easy to advance so quickly.
No class I've taken in the United States can compare
to how much I learned in my 2 month stay in Costa
Rica. The only downside is that you won't want to leave!"

"Before I left for Costa Rica I was struggling
in my OB/GYN rotation because I could not understand a word of what most
of my patients were telling me. When in Costa Rica
I not only learned a ton but I had a great time,
met so many wonderful friends, and was able to experience
a different culture.
The teachers were so incredible and really worked
with me, sometimes one on one, to improve my Spanish. I went during the month
of December and being able to experience Christmas and New Years with
my Tico family was
definitely something I will never forget. I don't
claim now by any means to be fluent but after my month in Costa Rica I am able
to communicate much better with my patients."

"When I arrived in Costa Rica my knowledge
of Spanish was virtually non-existent but after
only three weeks of intensive classes I knew enough
to be able to confidently travel on my own. Not
only were my teachers excellent, the schools were
located in some of Costa Rica's most beautiful areas
and the family that I stayed with was wonderful.
The extra-curricular activities such as ziplining,
horse riding, hiking, dancing and cooking classes
were a lot of fun and I made some great friends
who I am still in touch with two years later. I
would definitely say that studying the language
in a Spanish-speaking country is the best, and most
fun, way to learn."

I did indeed make it to the school just fine and have returned this past weekend. It was an incredible trip and I learned a great deal! Thank you so much for your help in coordinating this trip. Me encanta todo de Costa Rica. And I would love to live there someday! You made this process easy, and I will recommend Spanish for Success and the Heredia/Playa Samara locations to anyone wanting to learn Spanish.
Blessings,
Loriann

Claire

I had been taking Spanish lessons and was ready to experience the Spanish immersion. There were so many options. I contacted Russo at Spanish for Success. Russo guided me through the enrollment process without a glitch. I was assigned a homestay family and have to say that it was a very important part of my learning experience. The School in Costa Rica was the best, Friendly, encouraging me to practice my Spanish and helpful in every way. They worked with me to be sure my learning experience was at the appropriate level. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone thinking about Spanish Immersion. The venue for this school was breathtaking!!!!

spielend leicht spanisch sprechen gelernt... weil
In English:
Learn Spanish in Costa Rica was a large adventure!
My husband and I are German and can reasonably
speak English, there we had to learn Spanish over
English as reference language; sounds complicated
first time and very time-intensively; however we
in deed have - to our own astonishment - learned
to speak Spanish right easily ... because instruction
of engaged, passionated, experienced and very well
trained teachers. The teachers and the lessons were
sophisticated, structured and very alive and last
but not least we had a lot of fun!!!!
From the first lessons on we had already spoken
freely and within two weeks with daily four hour
of instruction (and many homework, learn vocabulary
an grammar, learn, learn) we learned to maintain
us over God and "come through" the world.
Beside we learned Salso dancing, to order in a restaurant
(at the place we practised it!), to travel with
any means of transport, we learned many about the
land and the people, about customs and life over
there, about problems and politics... about "pura
vida"!
It was simply fantastic!

The experience was wonderful for my daughter. The best part was the
homestay. She learned so much from the family and all the neighbors. The
only problem we had was that she did not want to leave her new family. She
said the classes were OK, not fantastic but she did learn some. Apparently
she did learn a lot in Costa Rica because when she started college this
semester, she was put into 4th semester Spanish instead of 3rd semester (she
had only taken the first 2 semesters) and has an A in the class.
A real benefit for using Spanish for Success instead of working directly
with the school, is that Spanish for Success is very responsive to any
concerns or special situations. My daughter did not arrive in Costa Rica on
Sunday as is usual and did not leave on the normal day. She was meeting a
mission group at the airport in Costa Rica and traveling to southern Costa
Rica with them for a week. Russo made this work and I felt very safe about
the transfer at the airport.
